Main language courses

A written and spoken language course (one unit) is taken each year. There are three entry pathways:

  • beginners (German, Italian and Spanish only),
  • post-A Level (French, German, Italian and Spanish)
  • native speaker (Spanish only)

Advanced Italian I (post A-Level pathway)

Year 2

Advanced Italian II

Final year

Advanced Oral and Communication Skills
with Advanced Translation III or Essay in Italian

Year 1

Intensive Spanish I (beginners' pathway), OR
Spanish I (post A-Level pathway), OR
Spanish II (native speaker pathway)

Year 2

Intensive Spanish II (beginners' pathway), OR,
Spanish II (post A-Level pathway), OR
Principles & Practice of Translation (native speaker pathway)

Final year
