The issues surrounding the freedom of expression in our corporation led society definitely fall into the parameters of Scribbleproject.
Are we as free as we think we are or is being a ‘non-conformist’ simply a brand of its own?
With Camden’s reputation as a place where everyone is free to express their ‘true selves’ we thought it was important to see what the people in Camden actually think of the place. Similarly to projects such as Gillian Wearing’s “Signs that Say What You Want Them To Say and Not Signs that Say What Someone Else Wants You To Say” or even Frank Warren’s ‘PostSecret’, we were interested in working with the public and their private thoughts. We then used this in an attempt to challenge the ‘cool’ image of Camden versus the reality of how freedom is sold as a capitalist commodity.
