Finn Fordham has co-edited with Rita Sakr a new volume about James Joyce and his varied interactions with the 19th Century French novel. The volume is published by Rodopi
in their 'European Joyce Studies' series. Joyce's dynamic play and uses of the work of Balzac, Hugo, Zola, Dumas and, of course, Flaubert are explored and, in so doing, the volume alters our sense of Joyce's relation to the enduring cultural influence of France in the 19th Century and the Novel.
