Thoughts on Violence: Prof. Michael Spagat's Interview with AOAV

Posted on 13/08/2013

Professor Michael Spagat

Head of Department, Professor Michael Spagat has been recently interviewed by AOAV (Action on Armed Violence). AOAV carry out research, advocacy and field work in order to reduce the incidence and impact of global armed violence. They have played a leading role, in the UK and internationally, in a number of landmark humanitarian disarmament agreements, the most recent being:

The Geneva Declaration on Armed Violence and Development (2006)

The Convention on Cluster Munitions (2008)

The Oslo Commitments on Armed Violence (2010)

With Professor Spagat’s research specialism being Armed Conflict, it was inevitable they would want to hear his thoughts on violence and about his recent research on how data modelling might allow predicting events in armed conflict situations.
