The Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) exists to provide a forum for the discussion of matters of interest and concern to staff and students in the working of the Department.
The membership of the committee comprises of an academic coordinator, two representatives from each undergraduate year, two postgraduate representatives, two PHD representatives, a faculty administrator and a representative from the library and IT services. The student representatives are elected early in the Autumn term.
All undergraduate and postgraduate students may ask their year representatives to raise issues at a meeting and are encouraged to do so (contact details are below). Normally the department hold three meetings per academic year; however, anyone in the Department may suggest a meeting if a particular issue seems to warrant urgent discussion in this forum.
The regular SSLC meetings have proven effective in bringing changes to the Economics department. This is a great platform for all current students to raise any issues, queries or recommendations that they may have within the department.

The minutes of the meeting are drafted by the Faculty administrator and forwarded to all attendees of the SSLC, once approved, they are emailed to all students. A copy of the minutes is also posted on the SSLC notice board, in the corridor to the right of the departmental office, H209, along with the contact details for committee members.
