Continental Margins Research Group
Paola Vannucchi (full research profile)
Senior Lecturer in Marine Geology
Relevant Expertise/Experience: Subduction zones and earthquake dynamics
Dr. Paola Vannucchi is a Senior Lecturer at Royal Holloway University since 2012. Prior she was a Senior Researcher at the University of Florence (Italy). Her expertise is in structural geology with particular focus on the tectonic evolution of ancient (Vannucchi et al., 2008, 2010) and modern (Vannucchi et al., 2012) subduction zones and their seismic behavior (Vannucchi et al., 2009), and on implications of subduction processes for the evolution of continental crust (Clift and Vannucchi, 2004; Clift et al., 2009). She is now working on the evolution and seismogenesis of the Costa Rican subduction zone (CRISP A1 and CRISP A2 IODP drilling expeditions), and processes of seamount accretion at arcs. She received the Young Author of the Year Award 2000 from the Geological Society, and the 2004 EGU Outstanding Young Scientist Award.
Role/Function in CMRG: : Marine geology, plate margin evolution, structural analysis of faults, fluid-rock interaction and seismogenesis.
