Discover the art of costume design at a special workshop at a festival organised by Royal Holloway, University of London this June.

Festival-goers will have the chance learn what goes into creating the perfect costume during the drawing workshop at the Play! Festival on Monday 4 June.

The workshop is run by Lucy Algar, a Teaching Fellow from the Department of Drama and Theatre at Royal Holloway, along with two drama students. Lucy is a practising artist and designer who has designed sets and costumes for performances in the theatre, on TV and film. Recently Lucy has created artwork for hospitals and galleries.

Lucy said: “As an artist, designer and educator, drawing has been long been at the core of my practice. It is the process by which I focus my thoughts and ideas and shape designs for performance work. This workshop aims to encourage all ages to enjoy drawing and to create costume designs.”

The workshop is part of the Play! Festival - a special one-day festival, hosted at The Firestation Centre for Arts & Culture in Windsor. It will see talented students from Royal Holloway and professional performers unveil a series of drama, music and film productions.
