Launch Event: Platform 5.2: ‘Communities and Performance’
On the evening of Thursday 19th May, Platform held a launch event at Bedford Square to celebrate its current edition, ‘Communities and Performance.’ Platform is a peer-reviewed journal of theatre and the performing arts published by doctoral students at Royal Holloway’s department of drama and theatre. The current edition explores the effects of global capital on communities and performance; it interrogates the construction of identity through shared history, shared experience, and face-to-face encounters.
Thursday’s event offered a chance to hear from some of Platform’s contributors about their research, as well as from head editors, Mara Lockowandt and Emer O’Toole, about their experiences working on the journal. Guest speaker Anna Myers of The Tricycle Theatregave a presentation on her outreach work with members of London’s diverse minority communities. Free print copies of the journal were available for all in attendance.
‘Communities and Performance’ is available online.
Print copies of Platform 5.2 are available for purchase from the bookshop at the Institute of Contemporary Arts at the price of £8
