New Sarah Kane Documentary

Posted on 26/05/2009
Blasted: The Life and Death of Sarah Kane will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on 19 February 2009 at 11.30am. Written and presented by Dan Rebellato, this documentary looks at the story of Sarah Kane’s short but influential career as a playwright from the controversies over her professional debut with Blasted in 1995 to her early death by suicide in 1999. The programme considers her changing styles, her concerns, her impact and her legacy, and features excerpts from her work and interviews with James Macdonald, Simon Kane, Mel Kenyon, Michael Billington and Vincent O’Connell. Shortly before her death, Kane came to Royal Holloway to speak about her work to students on Dan’s British Theatre course, and an excerpt from that event is included in the programme.
