New Radio Play

Posted on 15/03/2011

Dan Rebellato’s new radio play is called My Life Is A Series Of People Saying Goodbye. It is a play is about farewells and the end of things. It interweaves a series of different stories of departure and goodbye: a son going off to war, a girlfriend having to get away, a boss letting his employee go, an MP being deselected, and more. Out of these stories emerges a pattern of loss and departure, but also hope of return. The stories blur into one another in an unusual and innovative way to comic and ultimately moving effect. It's an experiment with radio form and I think we've pulled it off.  It's got a brilliant cast including David Annen, Sean Gallagher, Frances Gray, Jenny Jules, Will Payne, and Fenella Woolgar and a beautiful, epic sound design by Polly Thomas and Eloise Whitmote that ties everything together. And there are some quite good jokes along the way.

 4 April 2011, 2.15pm, BBC Radio 4.
