Dan Rebellato's play Cavalry shortlisted for a Sony Radio Award 2009

Posted on 15/04/2009

Dan Rebellato’s play "Cavalry" has been shortlisted for a Sony Radio Award 2009 in the Drama Award category. The Sonys are usually referred to as the ‘radio Oscars’ and have unrivalled prestige in the medium. It is the second time Dan Rebellato has been nominated, the first being for his adaptation of "The Midwich Cuckoos" in 2004.

Cavalry was broadcast on Radio 4 in March 2008 and described by one critic as ‘brilliantly clever, often very funny, and surprisingly terrifying’. It follows a young female reporter working with inadequate briefing and malfunctioning equipment as she tries to interview a group of young men about their lifelong interest in horses. Outside the world is sliding into chaos. Inside nothing the riders say makes sense. Who are they? What ride are they preparing for?

The winners will be announced in a ceremony in central London on 11 May.
