Dan Rebellato's new play Chekhov in Hell

Posted on 07/09/2010
Chekhov in Hell
Chekhov in Hell is a new play by Dan Rebellato premiering at the Drum Theatre, Plymouth Theatre Royal. The play imagines Anton Chekhov waking from a hundred-year coma and exploring contemporary Britain. What would Anton Chekhov make of a world of iPhone apps, plasma screens, speed dating and reality TV? Comic and raging, satirical and tragic, Chekhov in Hell is an attempt to take a snapshot of the Britain we’ve become. A very early version of this play was developed for students in the Department of Drama and Theatre in 2006.
