The next 'Bodies, Objects and Performance Practices Research Group' meeting is on TUESDAY 16th NOVEMBER from 5.15 - 6.45pm in Room 107 in Sutherland House.
The papers to read in preparation for the discussion on dramaturgy are:
1. David Williams' about working as a dramaturg in devising contexts: ‘Geographies of Requiredness: Notes on the Dramaturg in Collaborative Devising’, Contemporary Theatre Review, 20:2, May 2010, 197-202. The link for this is below. David is a senior member of staff in the department and has extensive experience as a dramaturg, director, performer and collaborator mainly in the field of devised performance. Click here for the paper.
2. Jiwon Yang, whose paper on object theatre with paper is attached above. Jiwon is a Korean theatre maker and PhD researcher in the department and she will select elements from her paper to discuss and show DVD extracts from her performances on working with paper. Click here for the paper.
Each presenter will speak about their paper, selecting elements they wish to bring to our attention in discussion. We would like this to be an informal occasion and encourage you all to come ready with responses to the papers and suggestions as to how these approaches might articulate with your own work or artistis/theorists you have encountered.
Towards the end of the time we will open discussion to a more general call for talks/performances/workshops etc you would like to see happening within this group and plan for the next two terms. Please pass this email on to others you think would be interested with the request that they let me know if they can come so I can plan re numbers.
There will be tea/coffee and juice etc. plus biscuits and cake!
We look forward to seeing you there just before 5.15.
