Welcome Week 2017
A warm welcome to all new students joining us in September 2017 and those who are continuing their studies! We hope that the time you spend at Royal Holloway will be happy and successful.
There has never been a more exciting time to study Computer Science, and especially so at Royal Holloway. This year, we have revamped our Artificial Intelligence pathways, and students on the Information Security pathways will be happy to learn that the BSc has been certified by GCHQ; it's also the only certified BSc running this year, so many congratulations to everyone who joined it. The MSci was certified by GCHQ last year..
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme, which offers bursaries to our students to work alongside our staff in research projects that they are leading, ran this summer for the second time.
Code Groovers, our software development company has already started and has developed systems for external clients (as well as the Department) using our students as software developers.
Don't forget that there is a lot that you yourself can contribute to life in the Department, especially if you join our vibrant Computing Society.

Advice about arriving late
Please try to arrive, at the latest, before teaching starts on Monday 25 September. If you miss any teaching you will find it very hard to catch up. Please note that you must arrive before the deadline for enrolment (Friday 6 October). This is the last date for you to enrol in the College for study in 2017-2018.
We will arrange for any latecomers to receive all the necessary welcome information, introduction to computing systems and meetings with Advisors, so that you will not miss out on anything important. Please do let us know if you cannot arrive by 10am on Monday 18 September, by emailing our department office.
