PROCAR is a European consortium coordinated by Professor Paul Fraser, School of Biological Sciences, at Royal Holloway, University of London. It is being funded by ERA-IB5 and will run for 36 months.

The main aim of this project is to develop a type of yeast as a renewable source of organic pigments that are used within the health and cosmetics industries. This state-of-the-art technology doesn’t impact on our dwindling sources of fossil fuels and doesn’t compete with land resources for growing food.
