Resource guides

Sources in the Archives

We have primary sources that can assist academic research into numerous subjects and disciplines including: Cultural Geography, Drama and Theatre History, English, History of Education, Modern History (from the mid 19th century), Sociology, Victorian Art and Architecture, and Women's History.

If you are simply interested in the general history of the College we have a selection of books available for reference in the Archives Reading Room; there are also copies of some in the Library.

Research resource sheets

The following research resource sheets provide guidance for students on sources in the College Archives relevant to specific subjects, whilst also suggesting possible topics for research using the archives. The list of subjects below is by no means a complete list of subjects for which sources in the College Archives may be relevant. The archives contain an extensive range of records relating to a broad variety of current and past academic departments and research activities at Royal Holloway and Bedford College. Please contact the archives to find out what records we have that may be able to help you in your research.
