Education, College Women and Suffrage: International Perspectives conference evening reception and dinner

The interdisciplinary Education, College Women and Suffrage: International Perspectives conference (13-14 June 2018), is a commemoration of suffrage bringing together renowned speakers from America, Ireland, Australia and Japan, plus researchers, students, teachers and archivists to explore the links between education and suffrage campaigns, and highlight the roles of college women in them. As part of the conference there will be exhibitions of digital and material educational suffrage resources.
We would like to invite all Bedford Society members to join us as guests for the following conference events:
Keynote speech by Elizabeth Crawford - 5pm
Famous suffrage historian, Elizabeth Crawford, will speak on the educational aspects of the Garrett sisters' circle.

Bedford drinks reception - 6.30pm
At the Bedford drinks reception we will launch the joint Bedford Centre and College Archives new digital suffrage document collection online. This will contain all the material displayed in the earlier Davidson Building Suffrage exhibition and significant new material including more from Bedford College. We have also created a specialized 'physical' exhibition of Bedford College and Suffrage for you to see in the Picture Gallery, which will include suffrage debates between Bedford students in the College Magazine, and those of well-known campaigners in The Balance, the only copy of which is held in the Archives but will now be available for everyone to read in full online.
