One of Royal Holloway’s virtues is its academic reputation, and that’s really fed into my study. Also I’ve been able to embrace the College’s international outlook: it’s been really influential in my development and that kind of independence is really helpful and strengthens your academic potential. I was lucky enough to spend a whole year studying in Melbourne, which was really enjoyable.
There are loads of opportunities for personal enrichment. I have a part-time job here in the catering service, and have worked on the student-staff committee in my department for the whole time I’ve been here. In my first and second years I also did a bit of radio broadcasting for Insanity, which was really good fun!
I’m not sure what my next step will be – right now I’m applying for a Masters programme in a related discipline, International Relations – but I’ve sought to take advantage of the options offered at Royal Holloway to develop my interest in various spheres. I’ve been exposed to a lot of opportunities – particularly with my year abroad. It’s opened up my vision for what I want to do.
