Our campus community
Royal Holloway’s beautiful campus is just one aspect that really sets us apart from other colleges of the University of London.
Our people really help bring the campus to life and we’re renowned for our particularly friendly ambience and close-knit vibrant community.
We’re also committed to providing students with a safe and responsible social life, which is demonstrated by our involvement with the NUS Alcohol Impact programme, and our increasing range of alcohol-free social activities. Read our statement detailing our aims for more information.
The local community
We’re fortunate to be located between the two historic centres of Englefield Green and Egham and the green spaces of the Crown Estate at Virginia Water. The village and town are both home to many of our staff and students, while others live elsewhere in Runnymede or slightly further afield.
Since our formation, we've been intertwined with the local community, which is a safe and close-knit one. We like to celebrate the engagement between the local community and the College through local events, such as Egham Royal Show and Englefield Green Fair, lectures, Community Action Week and Volunteering Week. We also host consultation events for the development of our estate, included in our estate plan.
Most of the buildings on our campus are named after someone who inspired the community of Royal Holloway or Bedford College.

Our Students’ Union (SU) is widely regarded as one of the most active in the country making our campus buzz with life.
The SU runs an array of clubs and societies giving our students the chance to pursue their passions (or discover new ones)
We're developing our historic estate to provide a 21st century campus that meets the needs of people studying and working in our university today
