Warning: Scam alert

Posted on 25/10/2012

It has been brought to our attention that an individual has been falsely using Royal Holloway’s name as part of a scam to invite academics to speak at seminars at the College. The invite appears to come from Professor Paul Layzell about a lecture at Royal Holloway

Some recipients have been asked to pay a fee for a UK work permit and asked to email a scanned passport copy.

The individual is not using a legitimate rhul.ac.uk Royal Holloway email or a College telephone number. To check the validity of an email call the College switchboard on 01784 434455.

We have notified the police and urge anyone who receives any email or correspondence of this nature not to respond.

To report this scam please contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 on 0300 123 2040.
