Music lovers all over the world could soon be listening to live concerts by the Choir of Royal Holloway in the comfort of their homes thanks to its investment in new state-of-the-art recording equipment.
The Choir has installed £14,000 of video and recording equipment in the College Chapel, enabling the concerts to be recorded and in the future possibly streamed live over the internet.
The Chapel Choir of 24 choral scholars is one of the finest mixed-voice collegiate choirs in the UK - described by The Times as “truly fabulous”. Alongside the regular schedule of worship in the beautiful College Chapel, the choir undertakes a busy schedule of concerts, recordings and broadcasts.
The Choir will be posting regular webcasts onto the new redesigned website, launched today (3 October), which will enable people all over the world to watch videos and hear recordings of its performances.
Rupert Gough, Director of the Choir of Royal Holloway said: “It is wonderful to be able to share our performances with a wider audience through the webcasts. It now means that people can share our concerts wherever they are. Although we will not immediately be offering live streams of all our concerts, we do have the potential to do this and it’s something we will look towards doing in the future.”
The new website features: events listings for upcoming performances; media reviews and press coverage; information about scholarships; details on how you can hire the choir; and it will soon feature the videos and recordings.
Mr Gough added: “We are delighted with the new design of our website. The Choir performs up and down the country, as well as regular concerts in the College Chapel, and now members of the public can easily find out about these through the website.”
