Crowds gathered to watch Paralympic champion Sophie Christiansen paint the finishing touches to a golden post box at Royal Holloway, University of London today (Friday 14 September).
A special ceremony was held to celebrate Sophie’s achievements and to unveil the golden post box and included pupils from local schools, the Mayor of Runnymede Councillor Linda Gillham, staff, students and local residents.
The Paralympic Dressage Rider and Royal Holloway alumna became the first British triple gold medallist of the 2012 Games.
The post box, positioned in the centre of Royal Holloway’s campus, was chosen to be painted gold in recognition of the continued support Sophie received while juggling her studies and her sports commitments.
