Sophie greets the Serbian Foreign Minister

The Serbian Foreign Minister visited Royal Holloway, University of London on Friday (25 November) to give a lecture and hold a questions and answers session where students quizzed him on Serbia’s chances of joining the European Union.

Mr Vuk Jeremić gave the lecture, entitled “The Balkans in times of strategic adjustment”, during a trip to the UK to meet UK Foreign Secretary William Hague.

The visit was organised by the College's Politics and International Relations Society and is a result of 12 months of negotiations.

Sophie Crockett, Secretary of the Politics and International Relations Society, said: "We had been planning and liaising with the Foreign Office in Belgrade to organise this event since August 2010, and so we are delighted it has gone ahead. This was an extremely exciting event and definitely a unique opportunity for students to ask questions and get to know a bit more about the fascinating character that is Vuk Jeremić."
