The Christmas Day episode of the much-loved television series Downton Abbey featured some of Royal Holloway’s most recognisable locations.
The Picture Gallery was featured near the beginning of the two-hour Christmas special, with characters seen admiring, sketching and discussing the collection of artwork. The Large Boardroom was also used as a filming location for ITV’s award-winning series.
The top-secret filming at Royal Holloway took place in August 2013 and proved to be a fitting backdrop for the Christmas storyline.
If you missed the original episode at 8:30pm on Christmas Day, here’s your chance to watch it again. (The Picture Gallery features immediately after the first ad break).
