Professor Klaus Dodds, from the Department of Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London, appeared on BBC News last night (Thursday 2 February) to discuss the arrival of Prince William in the Falklands on RAF search and rescue duty.
Professor Dodds, an expert in the Falkland Islands, said: “Since the 1950s, any British Royalty visit involving the Falklands has proven controversial from Argentina’s point of view as it’s a way of reminding Argentina that the Falklands is a British overseas territory.”
Despite this, Professor Dodds believes Prince William’s deployment will be “deeply welcomed” by the Falklands community.
