'The Arts of Democracy'
In the centenary year of the 1918 Representation of the People Act, which for the first time gave some women and all men the vote, the 2018 Play! Festival has “The Arts of Democracy” as a theme, encouraging participants to think creatively about how the arts and democracy intersect.
This year's Play! Festival is part of Suffrage in Egham, a joint project between Royal Holloway and Egham Museum, supported by funding from Arts Council England.
Applications for Play! Festival 2018 funding are now live for students and staff at Royal Holloway.
We have extended the deadline for applications!
Please submit an application form by 12.00 noon on Friday 23 March 2018.
Play! is Royal Holloway's annual festival of culture showcasing music, theatre, creative writing, film, art and more, created and performed by Royal Holloway students and staff.
After a year's break, Play! is back in 2018.
Play! 2016 was held Tuesday 31 May - Thursday 2 June. The Festival had a ‘Lost & Found Spaces’ theme and was held across the Royal Holloway campus. As the historic estate was being developed for the 21st century, students, staff and visitors were invited to explore our evolving campus. With over 30 events including drama performances, contemporary and classical music, new writing, open air theatre, talks, tours and exhibitions there was something for everyone.
