Royal Holloway’s Security staff carry out regular patrols of both the main campus and outlying sites, providing a visible, reassuring presence. We also operate the university’s CCTV system, which provides extensive coverage of academic areas and of the College grounds.
The Security Control Room is staffed at all times of the day and night. The team respond to fire and intruder alarms and are called upon to deal with a range of incidents. All Security staff hold first aid at work and defibrillator qualifications and are fully trained fire marshals. The department also provide access to academic and residential buildings, assists with lost and found property enquiries and the issue of staff identification cards.
The College operates a Campus Watch scheme, which promotes community safety across campus. The scheme aims to ensure that all campus users feel safe and secure within the College environment. To support us in this endeavour we have five teams of Campus Watch Safety Officers who work alongside Security staff throughout the evening and night, proactively patrolling halls of residence and providing an easily identifiable presence for students should they need assistance. The Security department works closely with the Residential Support team to provide a high quality student experience. Student wellbeing is paramount and staff are on site at all times to provide help and support to those in need.
