Royal Holloway, University of London will be joining the rest of Egham to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic torch relay on Tuesday 10 July.
The torch is due to arrive in Egham at 3.34pm on route from Windsor with the procession starting on the Egham bypass before heading down the High Street, along Church Road, Station Road and Whitehall Lane.
The Olympic flame will be carried by 8,000 inspirational people on its 10-week journey across the UK.
As the official Rowing and Canoe Sprint Village for the 2012 Games, Royal Holloway will be hosting more than 1,400 athletes and officials on campus. They will be staying in university accommodation during the Olympic and Paralympic Games and will be transported by coach to nearby Dorney Lake, in Eton, where the Rowing and Canoe Sprint events will be held.
Speaking following the announcement of the torch relay route, Professor Geoff Ward, Vice Principal (Students and Staff), said: “We are delighted to see the torch relay will be coming to Egham. This will provide a great opportunity for the local community and members of the College to come out and celebrate the Games.”
