Melanie is studying MSc Computer Science (Information Security)
Royal Holloway aims to financially support many students by providing scholarships to study here. Scholarship recipient, Melanie, was awarded a scholarship in 2020 to study MSc Information Security. She had always had a fascination with networks, hacking and tracking criminals down over networks and knew that Royal Holloway’s emphasis on cyber security and its participation in research, as well as the course being GCHQ accredited was the right one for her.
“I decided to apply for the scholarship because I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to financially support myself during the MSc.”
Melanie has found Royal Holloway to be a supportive academic community, with helpful and engaging lecturers. She feels that she is being provided with a solid foundation for the start of her career.
“As a student you just feel incredibly supported, the University really hands you all the tools you need… In addition to the finances, it is invaluable to share your ambitions with people who don’t know you but believe in you enough to invest in your future. That is priceless.”
Melanie has recently used the University’s Careers Service to assist her with creating her best CV for a job at the National Crime Agency and is hoping to hear she will be given an opportunity to work there and launch her career in the near future.Support students like Melanie
