Qualification check

Qualification check

Organisations (such as pre-employment screening, recruitment or other external agencies) looking to verify the qualification information or attendance details of a current or former Royal Holloway student can request a qualification check from the Student Services Centre team.

The turnaround time for this request is five working days, increasing to ten working days during busier periods (January to March and June to October).

How to submit a request

We are pleased to announce the implementation of the Higher Education Degree Datacheck (Hedd) online verification service for employers and agencies to verify Royal Holloway, University of London awards from 1 April 2019. Please note that this service is only for third parties.

To make an enquiry you need to register with Hedd by visiting www.hedd.ac.uk. Select ‘Royal Holloway, University of London’ from the list of UK higher education institutions and choose the option to 'verify a degree award'. There is a charge of £12 per enquiry. If you require further assistance, please email heddhelp@prospects.ac.uk. You will also be required to upload a consent form.

Please include the following details as part of the request:

  • Candidate's name (including maiden name if applicable)
  • Date of birth
  • Programme of study
  • Qualification awarded (where applicable)
  • Date of award (where applicable)
  • If you require dates of attendance, please request this at the time of making the enquiry.
  • A copy of the candidate’s signed authorisation for the release of information

Personal/character references

The Student Services Centre cannot comment on a candidate's character or suitability for the post; we only hold academic records and do not have personal knowledge of each student.

For a character reference, we suggest that you ask the candidate to name a specific referee from their academic department.
