The Royal Holloway art collections include some of the 19th century’s most iconic works of art. This wonderful display is largely thanks to our founder, the entrepreneur Thomas Holloway, and the artist Christina Herringham.
Holloway started buying paintings to form a collection for his students as far back as 1881, amassing some of the most important works of the era. Holloway and Herringham’s collections have been enhanced over the years through gifts, acquisitions and commissions. The collections now represent over 200 years of art.
