Knowledge Sharing

    • Annual public sustainability lecture – see ‘events’ for our annual series of high-profile speakers on sustainability from a wide range of perspectives including, politics, science, the built environment and transport.
    • Practitioner events – we can work with professional or trade associations or other interest groups to contribute to focused practitioner seminars, conferences or other events on sustainability.
    • Practitioner/academic joint events – sometimes it is valuable to create an environment where scholars and practitioners can co-learn. We are happy to contribute to such events.

Case Study – ACCA

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants is a leading global body for professional accountants with 140,000 members and 404,000 students globally. As part of the Accountancy Futures initiative, they are highlighting critical issues for the accounting profession. With 63,000 of their members working in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or small partnerships worldwide, they also understand the importance of this organizational form. As part of a wider programme of mutual interest in this area, the Centre for Research into Sustainability worked with ACCA to develop two practitioner meetings on SMEs and Sustainability, one in London and one in Brussels with a European theme. The events enabled a rich exchange of scholarly and practical discussion around the key sustainability challenges for SMEs with corporate perspectives and policy makers also engaged.
