Social Accountability and the International Financial Sector
This project examines and theorises the main drivers, responses and organizational contexts associated with the approach of particular financial institutions to the social accountability of specific financial activities. In doing so, it seeks to identify both the challenges and opportunities inherent in the progression of financial sector accountability within the realm of sustainable development.
- Illustration and development of key aspects of institutional theory and structuration theory in an original empirical setting.
- Increased understanding of the dynamics underpinning the development and implementation of the Equator Principles.
Longitudinal case study drawing on extensive documentary analysis and in-depth interviews with key stakeholder groups involved in and impacted by a financial institution's project finance activities.
